A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck area. The intention of the facelift procedure is to rejuvenate the lower face, the neck and the mid-facial regions. If you do not meet all of these criteria, but meet some of them, you may still be a good candidate for a facelift. If you have good skin tone, it is more likely that your skin will respond well to the surgery.

AMAR "Autologous Mesenchymal Anatomic Restoration"

Where you see FAMI or AMAR the method is based on the training from Dr Roger Amar, the name FAMI or AMAR cannot be used without prior training from Dr Roger Amar in this very skilled and precise method of Muscle Injection.

The AMAR technique is now the Technique used by Dr Roger Amar because of people using the name FAMI within their practice without true and proper training in the method. Currently there is not more than a handful of surgeons truly trained in the AMAR FAMI Surgical procedure.

Fat Injection versus FAMI 

In body fat one can find excellent soft tissue filler material. Fat injection (also called autologous fat transplantation) is not permanent, and may require an effective maintenance program. Dr Roger Amar found a technique called FAMI (Facial Autologous Mesenchymal Injection) which made this program not necessary.
Fatty mesenchymal s stem cells are first harvested from fat deposit of one part of the body and then injected  to another to recontour the face; diminish frown lines, crow's feet and nasolabial folds (smile lines); and provide definition to areas like the cheeks and chin. It can also be used to fill out depressed scarred areas on any part of the body.

Technique:

Fat is extracted through a small needle attached to a syringe from a donor site (for example, abdomen, buttocks or thighs) in local anesthetic. The lipoaspirate is then processed to remove excess fluids and big fat cells and mesenchymal stem cells are reinjected with another needle into the muscles or on the bone surfaces in the desired area. "Overfilling" is a necessary corrective due to fat absorption in the weeks after treatment the FAMI technique use the right amount of tissues because the retention is near 100%. For longest-lasting effect, patients generally receive 3 to 4 fat injection treatments over a six-month period but only one FAMI.
